Kit and Armoury

Fencers must wear a T-shirt, thin-soled non-marking trainers or fencing shoes, socks, and tracksuit trousers or jogging bottoms. Please note that jeans, cargo pants, shorts and any leg wear with external pockets, straps etc are not allowed, as they are a safety hazard. They should bring a sweatshirt for changing into after the session and a plastic bottle of plain water, marked with their name. If they have long hair they must have a means of tying it back. If they use an inhaler, they should bring that with them, again marked with their name.

Equipment regulations now mean that when fencing with electric weapons and recording apparatus the fencer must wear an ‘800 Newton’ plastron (under-jacket) and ‘350 Newton’ fencing breeches with long white socks. Whilst the club will continue to honour its charitable aim of providing kit for all those who cannot provide their own, we are encouraging parents and carers to invest in these two items at least, which can be purchased through the club at a discount from the supplier. We will also organise a kit exchange when children grow out of their kit, so that you can recoup some of your outlay by selling on second-hand items in good repair.

Sherwood Cadets Fencing Club holds the following equipment for use by members: masks; gloves; breeches; underplastrons; jackets; lamés; foils (various sizes); sabres (various sizes); wires.
